My personal experience is:
1. produce high quality videos
2. do proper keyword research for the videos
3. Consistent posting --- this is so important to get consistent revenue
4. Patience - I've waited for 6 months to get monetized (by posting 1 video everyday)
5. Backlinking will also get the ranking for our channel/videos
6. search your keyword in wiki and start do backlinking process somewhere (its free)
